The aims of the SILBA are «to encourage the study and diffusion of Leon Battista Alberti's work

and to further research not only into his family and his intellectual environment,

but also into the history, the litterature, the science and the arts of Humanism and the Renaissance » (Statuts, art. 2).

The society was founded on 30th June, 1995, in accordance with the wishes of the participants in the

Congrès International Leon Battista Alberti held in Paris

(Sorbonne - Institut de France - Istituto Italiano di Cultura - Collège de France, 10-15 April, 1995).
